OSPREY BATTLE ORDERS 19: US MARINE CORPS IN THE VIETNAM WAR- III MARINE AMPHIBIOUS FORCES 1965-1975
by Ed Gilbert and Editor Dr. Duncan Anderson

III Marine Amphibious Force was conceived as a division command for a small Marine Corps commitment to Vietnam. Within four years it had grown to a reinforced corps of two divisions, an air wing, and the division-sized Force Logistics Command. This organization was unique in Marine Corps history in that it merged combat and major logistical functions under a single field command. This book examines the origins and constantly changing organizational structure of III MAF, and demonstrates how it conducted its savage struggle against Viet Cong guerrillas and North Vietnamese Army regular forces in the northern provinces of Vietnam.

OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 222: SELF-PROPELLED ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS OF THE SOVIET UNION
by Mike Guardia and Illustrator Henry Morshead

During the Cold War the Soviet Army was perhaps the deadliest fighting force the world had ever seen. Within its mechanized forces the Soviets fielded a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) that could keep pace with its heavy armored formations. This volume examines the design, development and operational history of the ZSU-37, ZSU-57-2, the ZSU-23-4, and the 9K22 Tunguska (better known by its NATO reporting name: SA-19 ‘Grison'). These vehicles excelled in their air defense role, and the US Department of Defense was dedicated to examining how to defeat the weapons and their radar tracking systems. These formidable weapons equipped Russian forces in Afghanistan and were encountered again in Iraq during Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.

OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 242: SOVIET COLD WAR GUIDED MISSILE CRUISERS
by Edward Hampshire and Illustrator Paul Wright

Heavily armed and formidable, guided missile cruisers formed the core of the Soviet Navy during the Cold War. From the last class of conventional Sverdlov-class cruisers through to increasingly complex and formidable missile cruisers, these ships ensured that NATO took the Soviet naval threat seriously. Soviet Cold War Guided Missile Cruisers covers all classes of these impressive warships, from the early Sverdlov through the Kynda, Kresta, Kara and Slava to the enormous Kirov classes. This comprehensive volume examines the design, development, and intended role of these impressive, hi-tech warships, and recounts their dramatic operational history as NATO and Soviet warships faced off against each other during the long Cold War at sea.

OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 287: SOVIET COLD WAR ATTACK SUBMARINES
by Edward Hampshire and Illustrator Adam Tooby

Nuclear classes from November to Akula. The fascinating history of the nuclear-powered attack submarines built and operated by the Soviet Union in the Cold War, including each class of these formidable craft as they developed. The November class, which were the Soviet Union's first nuclear submarines, had originally been designed to fire a single enormous nuclear-tipped torpedo but were eventually completed as boats firing standard torpedoes. The Alfa class were perhaps the most remarkable submarines of the Cold War: titanium-hulled (which was light and strong). The Victor class formed the backbone of the Soviet nuclear submarine fleet in the 1970s and 1980s, as hunter-killer submarines began to focus on tracking and potentially destroying NATO ballistic missile submarines. The Sierra classes were further titanium-hulled submarines and the single Mike-class submarine was an experimental type. Finally, the Akula class were being constructed as the Cold War ended, and these boats form the mainstay of the Russian nuclear attack submarine fleet today.

OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 65: BRITISH NAPOLEONIC ARTILLERY 1793 - 1815 (2)
by Chris Henry and Brian Delf

Following on from the first volume covering British Napoleonic Artillery, this book concentrates on the heavy weapons of siege and coastal defences. It covers the 24 pounder siege gun and a variety of mortars which varied from 4 or 5 inch versions up to 13 inch calibre. They were extremely effective because they used an exploding shell to destroy fortifications or personnel. Also covered in detail is the specialist bomb vessel which was used to attack fortifications in a similar fashion, siege techniques and the tactical use of siege and coastal artillery.

OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 200: BRITISH BATTLESHIPS 1914-18 (1)
by Angus Konstam and Illustrator Paul Wright

The launch of HMS Dreadnought in 1906 changed the face of naval warfare. The first half-dozen dreadnoughts were all improvements of the basic design, carrying ten 12-inch guns. It was only in 1911, with the launch of HMS Neptune that the layout of this powerful armament was altered as a result of practical experience, and two more versions entered service later that same year. These nine improved dreadnoughts formed the core of the British High Seas Fleet. They would soon, however, be outclassed by a new breed of "super dreadnoughts”, the subject of the second volume in this two-part story.
