Formed in 1948, 11 Gorkha Rifles was the only Regiment
from East Nepal, and the youngest in the Indian Army. A
substantial Regiment of six battalions, it fought in the
1965 and 1971 Indo/Pakistan Wars, in counter-insurgency
operations, and in the 1967 confrontation with China.
