An account of the development of USMC amphibious assault
vehicles and the troops who used them. Developed prior to WWII,
they were first used on Guadalcanal. AMTRAC Battalions led the
amphibious assaults throughout the war in the Pacific and they
were used during the Normandy invasion and the crossing of the
Rhine. Post WWII AMTRACs were employed in Korea, Vietnam and a
number of smaller campaigns.
