The Editor's Choice - April 2013

HISTORY OF THE 487TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP

A very rare history of the USAAF 8th Air Force 487th Bombardment Group from its formation in September, 1943, initial training at Alamogordo, New Mexico, and subsequent deployment to England (via Brazil and North Africa) in April, 1944. Based at Lavenham, Suffolk, the unit was initially equipped with B-24s and undertook a number of missions against targets in Europe during May and June. In July, 1944 they re-equipped with B-17 Flying Fortresses, carrying out intensive raids through to April, 1945. This extremely collectible volume includes hundreds of black and white photographs, a complete listing of the 487th's missions plus a comprehensive roster of the unit's personnel. It is presented in bright, clean blue leather boards with gold insignia and cover title.
