The Editor's Choice - August 2015

A HISTORY OF THE BRITISH ARMY:
20 VOLUMES INCLUDING 6 MAP VOLUMES

by Hon. J. W. Fortescue

A scarce, complete set of Fortescue's celebrated history of the British Army. Including some second editions, it was published between 1910 and 1927. Presented in red boards, some with slightly faded spines, endpapers browning and top edge is dusty, but overall this is a very good set. Signature on front inside board of Volume 1 and others is that of Lt. Colonel Ernest Makins of the Royal Dragoons. Some other volumes have a bookplate for Arthur Oliver Villiers Russell, Baron Ampthill. Two map Volumes have the bookplate of Raymond J. Marker, Coldstream Guards.

Good in red boards -
