A very scarce study of the unit (which was formerly
the Sturmgeschutz Abteilung 197), 1940-1943. They saw
action in Austria, Italy, and on the Eastern Front,
equipped primarily with the Ferdinand, some Elefant tank
destroyers and various support vehicles. Late in 1944
the unit was transitioning to the new Jagdtiger tank
destroyer and there is a chapter describing the training
and early operations of this potent weapon. The book is
packed with black and white photographs plus thirty two
colour plates and twenty five plan and side view
profiles.
This copy inscribed by a previous owner and there is
some highlighting and marking to the publishers and
index pages. The boards are protected by sticky backed
plastic.
