The sought after second edition of
Malleson's book on the conquest of India. Battles
covered are St Thome, Kaveripak, Plassey, Kondur,
Machhliapatanam, Biderra, Undwah Nala, Baksar, Porto
Novo, Assaye, Laswari, Furuzshahar, Sobraon, Gujrat, and
Chilianwala.
This book has an additional chapter, not in the original
edition, covering the two sieges of Bharatpur and an
additional preface which, in part, considers the Russian
threat to Herat.
Presented in original plum cloth and yellow end-papers,
the spine is a little faded but the gilt titles are
bright. The top cover is rubbed towards the leading edge
and there is very slight foxing to some page edges,
nonetheless this is a very nice copy.
