subsequent fierce air battles over the Caucasus, the Luftwaffe's
onslaught on Convoy PQ-17, the hard air war over the Central and

THE UNIFORMED POLICE
FORCES OF THE THIRD REICH, 1933 - 1945
by Phil Nix & Jerome George
Germany had no
national police force until 1920 when one was formed by the Weimar
regime. As well as normal duties, the Ordnungspolizei supervised
the professional and voluntary fire services and provided advice
to factory security units. During the war the Ordnungspolizei were
used to assist the security police in occupied territories. Police
Regiments manned two Waffen-SS divisions, fighting alongside the
Wehrmacht. The police were also at the core of the civil defences
in Nazi Germany. This book details the organisation of the police
forces of the Third Reich and provides biographical information on
the most senior officers.

TANKS IN THE WINTER WAR 1939-1940
by Maxim Kolomyets
Many books have been
written about the Winter War, but none have described the Soviet
units and their efforts, or the tanks used in the conflict. This
book is based upon Russian sources and therefore stands out
remarkably from others on the Finnish Winter War. It includes
concise accounts of the Soviet units, their equipment, their
commanders and operations. There is also an account of the Finish
defences and fortifications. The only tank battle of the Winter
War, the battle of Honkaniemi, is described in detail.
In 1940 the German Blitzkrieg changed the face of warfare. The
Royal Air Force realised that, without secure bases, their
operational effectiveness was in jeopardy, and it was unlikely that
the Army would be able to provide airfield defence. The result was
that the RAF Regiment was formed in 1942, growing to become a
professional force of 50,000 officers and men. This volume was
published to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Regiment's
formation.
