HOLD THE WESTWALL OR PERISH WITH IT

by Timm Haasler

The history of Panzer Brigade 105, September, 1944. This is the story an experiment that failed - the creation of separate armored brigades, within the Panzertruppe in 1944. They were to be a form of field army level reserve and strike force. This book examines the formation, deployment, virtual destruction and ultimate deactivation of Panzer Brigade 105. Instead of being deployed on the Eastern Front as originally intended, the brigade was rushed to the West and the unstable situation there in 1944. The story is presented not only from the German side, but also from the viewpoint of the various US forces employed against the brigade in September 1944.

BATTLEGROUND PRUSSIA: THE ASSAULT ON
                                         GERMANY'S EASTERN FRONT 1944-45

by Prit Buttar

In September 1944 the Soviet Army poured into German territory, flooding Prussia, the heartland of the Reich. Hopelessly outnumbered by the human wave of the Red Army, the Wehrmacht fought with determination, but was gradually beaten back. This book describes the great battles that marked the Soviet conquest, from Memel to Königsberg, the Heiligenbeil Pocket to Danzig. Using accounts never before published in English, Buttar looks at the campaign both from a command level, and from the perspective of normal soldiers on the front line.

PANZER TRACTS NO. 2-3: PANZERKAMPFWAGEN II AUSF.D, E, AND F

by Thomas L Jentz & Hilary Louis Doyle

Development and production from 1937 to 1942. For the first time the design evolution of the Pz.Kpfw.II has been correctly analysed and the characteristics of each model correctly identified. This has been made possible by many years of research in private and public archives, chassis number analysis, and the sharing of rare photos showing legible chassis numbers. Hundreds of hours were spent precisely measuring surviving Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.F and Flamm components and over a thousand hours were spent in creating detailed drawings. This book is packed with new information on the history, production, and unit organization, the text and data being based on primary sources.

OSPREY ELITE 138: THE YUGOSLAV WARS (1)

by Dr. Nigel Thomas & Krunoslav Mikulan

Slovenia and Croatia, 1991-95.
Following the death of the Yugoslavian strongman President Tito in 1980, the semi-autonomous republics and provinces that he had welded into a nation in 1945 moved inexorably towards separation. After a deceptively clean break for independence by Slovenia in 1991, the world watched a series of wars rip through this modern European state. In this first of two volumes, experts on the Balkan region give an unprecedentedly clear, concise explanation of the Slovene, Croatian and Krajina-Serb armies of these campaigns, illustrated with rare photos and colour uniform plates by Darko Pavlovic.

by Dr. Nigel Thomas & Krunoslav Mikulan

Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia, 1992-2001. For ten years from 1991, the world watched in horror as a series of bloody wars ripped a modern European state apart, and the intolerable spectacle eventually forced international intervention. Illustrated with rare photos and colour uniform plates by Darko Pavlovic, this second of two volumes by experts on the Balkan region offers a concise breakdown of the indigenous forces involved in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia.
