GUERRILLA NIGHTMARE

by Lovro Persen & Mario Raguz

Luftwaffe Stuka at war against Tito's partisans in Yugoslavia, 1941-1945. The very name, Stuka, is synonymous with the screaming sirens and the crump of heavy bombs, and for the lightly armed Partisan forces it meant despair, defeat and often, death. For five long years Stuka units in the Balkan theater came and went, depending on the war fortunes of the Axis. The bomb loads that the Ju 87 carried and the precision with which they were delivered was a winning combination. In September, 1943 it was the Stuka which spearheaded the defeat of Italian forces, and until the last day of the war it was the first line of defence against the might of The Red Army.
