The Normandy Landings involved by far the largest invasion
fleet ever known. The scale of the undertaking was simply awesome.
What followed was some of the most ferocious fighting of the war,
as savage as anything seen on the Eastern Front. As casualties
mounted, so too did the tensions between the principal commanders.
Meanwhile, French civilians caught in the middle endured terrible
suffering. Making use of new material from over thirty archives,
this is the most vivid and well-researched account yet of the
battle of Normandy.

Stretching like an armoured belt across Italy, the Gothic Line
was the most fortified position the German army had thrown in the
path of the advancing Allies. On August 25, 1944, it fell to I
Canadian Corps to spearhead the Eighth Army’s offensive against
line. For twenty-eight days, the battle raged as the Canadians, with
British and Polish troops on their flanks, slugged into the German
defences. Victory came on September 22, but the price was the
greatest toll in casualties suffered during the Italian campaign.

A photo chronicle covering the passenger cars used by the
Wehrmacht during WWII. These fulfilled various roles including
command and communications, radio intelligence and reconnaissance,
towing, and many more purposes. Apart from German manufactured
automobiles such as Audi, BMW, VW, Opel and Mercedes, the Wermacht
made use of vehicles made in the occupied territories. These
included Skoda, Citroen, Renault and Peugot, and they also
operated captured cars such as the Willys Jeep, Fords, Cadillacs,
Humbers, Wolseleys and many other British and American models.

INDIAN ARMY SHERMANS
IN THE FAR EAST: COLOUR AND MARKING SERIES
by
Dennis Oliver
From 1942 until August 1945, British and Indian troops battled
against the Empire of Japan and its allies across the mountains
and jungles of Burma. In a country were the weather was as
limiting as any enemy action the US built Sherman tank proved its
worth in the final campaign to drive the Japanese from South-East
Asia. Dennis Oliver describes and illustrates the role played by
these remarkable vehicles and the crews who manned them through
Britain’s longest campaign of the Second World War to the vain
attempt to maintain order in post-war Indonesia.
