| US ARMORED ARTILLERY IN WORLD WAR II by Steven J Zaloga Armor At War series 7044. The US Army began WWII lacking armored field artillery vehicles. The T30 75mm HMC and the T19 105mm HMC were hastily brought into service, followed in the summer of 1943, by the 105mm M7 Priest and the M8 75mm HMC to provide fire support for armored cavalry reconnaissance squadrons.
