CONCORD ARMOR AT WAR SERIES 7005: US TANK DESTROYERS IN COMBAT 1941-1945
by Steven J Zaloga

When war broke out in Europe the US Army was ill-prepared and woefully ill-equipped. As part of the build up of their mechanised armor capabilities, in 1941 the War department authorised the formation of the first of 53 anti-tank battalions, dubbed "Tank Destroyers" for psychological reasons. The aggressive orientation of the force was embodied in their slogan "Seek-Strike-Destroy". This Concord publication is an extensively illustrated photo study of the various weapons and vehicles, and their operational deployment and use in the various theaters of war.

US ARMORED ARTILLERY IN WORLD WAR II
by Steven J Zaloga

Armor At War series 7044. The US Army began WWII lacking armored field artillery vehicles. The T30 75mm HMC and the T19 105mm HMC were hastily brought into service, followed in the summer of 1943, by the 105mm M7 Priest and the M8 75mm HMC to provide fire support for armored cavalry reconnaissance squadrons. In 1944 the M12 155mm GMC arrived with field artillery battalions. This large gun allowed only carried a few rounds of ammunition so the companion M30 cargo carrier was built to supply ammunition.
